You will most likely PMS for as long as these followup visits continue.
Here we are, we're home and living a (relatively) normal life and trying to put the bad stuff behind us, but each death of a child, each visit back is a dramatic reminder of the seriousness of the battle we're fighting.
Parents on the pediatric brain tumor list I participate in say that things get better after five years have passed, but that's no guarantee.
Collin's law about medulloblastoma states that if a child survives to be their age at diagnosis + 9 months, they are most likely to be cured. For us, that would mean that Steven would be almost 19.
It's a long road. Regarding the MRI's, while they were stressful at the time of diagnosis, the MRI's that came during treatment were not nearly as stressful for me as those after we finished. The chance of a recurrence during active treatment is extremely low.
I'm sure we'll chat more after you're home. Now you should be celebrating and trying to heal, Regina and your entire family. And packing up the mountain of stuff you've accumulated in Memphis :-)
