Contribute To St. Jude

If you are considering a donation to St. Jude, here are some things to consider:

  • St. Jude is a privately funded organization, it is donations like yours that allow them to try and save the lives of children with catastrophic diseases.

  • St. Jude accepts all patients that meet the criteria for their clinical trials regardless of place of residence or insurance status. They treat children from all over the world.

  • St. Jude patients never see a medical bill. Their insurance is billed, if there is no insurance or if the insurance doesn't cover all of the cost of treatment, St. Jude pays the rest. The patients never see a bill.

  • Because St. Jude attracts so many patients from different locations, many times they have more experience in treating rare conditions than a patient's local hospital.

  • St. Jude doesn't stop treating a patient after they turn 18. Many children's hospitals will not treat patients over the age of 18, if a 17-year old child was in the middle of treatment when they turned 18 at a local children's hospital, their care would be transferred to a hospital for adults after they turned 18, thus disrupting the continuity of care.

  • In addition to treating children, St. Jude employs researchers who are developing new and novel treatments for childhood diseases that currently have no cure. The research performed at St. Jude is published and shared with other institutions, thus benefiting all patients regardless of where they are treated.

  • St. Jude houses all their patients and up to three accompanying family members. St. Jude also provides an allowance for meals, thus relieving the families of part of the financial burden of having a child with a serious disease.

  • The followup care at St. Jude is among the best of the best. Because every patient is part of a study, St. Jude diligently follows up each patient not only to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment, but to assess the negative side effects and to research new ways to treat children that mitigates those negative effects.

Please consider a donation to St. Jude, either in Steven's name or in the name of any other child. If you would like, you can make a donation in Steven's name. If Steven's donations reach a certain amount, he is eligible to have a plaque honoring him put up in the hallways at St. Jude.
