Cycle 1, Day +1: Discharge Day?

Today, January 10, is supposed to be discharge day for Steven.

Last night in preparation, they stopped all IV medications, just fluids. We're going home with a portable IV pump with fluids for him.

He still hasn't eaten anything since Sunday. He's vomiting old blood, not drinking. This morning he was too nauseated to take his meds, which have all been switched from IV to oral. Vomited for 45 minutes after he woke up, looks like old blood.

They then gave him oral ativan, which got the vomiting under control long enough for him to try oral zofran. He felt better, but when we got him up for his daily bath, it all started again. He still reeks of the DMSO solvent in the bone marrow.

So, they're keeping him until at least tonight, maybe until tomorrow.

Poor sweetie, he's miserable right now, started crying this morning and saying he didn't know how he could do this :-(

We'll see how he does later...
