Old Friends and Polar Bears
We stopped by to see our friends the polar bears at the zoo on Wednesday.
The Ash Wednesday weather in Memphis was unseasonably warm, about 10 degrees warmer than San Diego.
When we visited the bears a year ago, there were two bears in the water, this time only one (a 600-lb female) was on display.
To compare, the bear that Steven got to pet in Churchill was about a 1500-lb male.

We stopped by Target House this time, where we lived for five months in 2004. Target House houses about 100 families in two buildings, and you get to know who most of the families are when you're living there.
When we were walking around on the playground, a man came up to us and asked if we were moving in.
Karri Morgan, manager of Target House
We told him we'd lived there for five months and we moved out in May 2004 and that as nice as it was when we were there, we hoped and prayed we'd never be living there again.
We flew home Wednesday night and stayed overnight with my parents, drove back to San Diego yesterday.
Now it's time to hit the ground running, but we're so happy to be home. In six months we do it all again.

P.S. We are keeping baby Rayley in our prayers, today is her big MRI.

I, too, hope your only reason for going to Target House again, is to visit. I pray daily that Steven remains free of the Monster.
Love those polar bears!
Kathy,
Hi its Carolyn, Melissa's mom. Just a question Melissa had a blood transfusion Friday and got sick soon after, do you think that could have caused the septic infection. I know the chemo created part of the problem but what about the transfusion? Thank you for your concern on Melissa's site. I am so happy Steven is doing well, because I know that will be Melissa when we are through. Talk to later--Carolyn
