A Warm Welcome
When we arrived home in the wee hours of May 12, the kids were asleep. As we pulled up to our house, we saw a sign in the kid's bedroom window, balloons tied to our outdoor lamps.
We walked into our house to find that some kind person had cracked all our windows, to air things out. More signs and balloons inside, signed by all the neighbor kids.
More balloons tied to the kids' beds. Somebody turned on our refrigerator and filled it with milk, cheese, ice cream, butter, eggs, a frozen pizza. They left us dry cereal, nuts, and snacks.
After school on Wednesday, our doorbell rang. It was the Brownies come calling.
They also brought more signs and balloons. We went out in the driveway and they serenaded us with "Welcome Back To San Diego", sung to the tune of "If You're Happy And You Know It".
We contacted the school on Wednesday, and were able to get Steven and Sean back in school on Friday, where they were able to participate in their annual jog-a-thon. Sean jogged 19 laps, Steven jogged 13, pretty good for someone who's been through four bone marrow transplants.
On Friday night the family of Sean's best friend Drew had a pool party for us and invited our neighbors. This was Steven's first opportunity to swim after getting his line out.
My sister Janet had us over for dinner Sunday night at their house.
It's so good to be home...
