Cycle 2, Day +18: In Like a Lamb?

Over the loudspeaker this morning, "Will the mother of Steven Bell please come to B clinic and pick up your appointment card."

I pick up the appointment card. His MRI for tomorrow has been moved from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

An hour later, "Will the mother of Steven Bell please come to B clinic and pick up your appointment card."

When I arrive, "Steven will be going into isolation tomorrow. You will need to enter and exit the hospital through the isolation entrance, you will have to move out of your room and into the Marriott, you may not ride the hospital shuttle, instead you can call a cab for transportation to and from the hospital. All this will be effective as of March 2nd until March 22nd."

OK. We thought this might happen. I call Doug and tell him.

Three hours later, "Will the mother of Steven Bell please call extension 3419."

I find a phone and call. "Mrs. Bell, Fernando (the boy they told us had a confirmed case of chicken pox last Thursday) was released from the hospital today. He never showed any signs of any chicken pox infection, so you don't have to go into isolation." And the words I kept waiting for but which went unspoken, "April Fool's!"

We think we finally figured out what happened-- someone got confused about which month it is that comes in like a lion or a lamb and which month starts with trickery. The good news is, no chicken pox exposure and no isolation.

Steven had an MRI of his brain today. It was scheduled for 5:00 pm, but it was 6:30 pm when they called us and 8:00 pm when we were finally done. I'm always blown away by how well Steven tolerates lying absolutely motionless inside a small tube with a mask over his face for over an hour at a time. Hopefully we'll hear something tomorrow, but in this case, no news is usually good news, bad news comes quickly.
