Cycle 1, Day +28: The Squeaky Wheel...
Seeing as I'm not one of those patient people who keeps quiet when they're unhappy--
After I met with the bone marrow transplant clinic people yesterday at St. Jude and they told us that Steven's chemo would be delayed for a second time, I emailed Steven's neuro-oncologist and explained our unhappiness about the delay.
We got a call from the bone marrow transplant clinic folks about half an hour after I sent the email to the oncologist. They told us the neuro-oncologist had forwarded my email to them and that they would set up an appointment today for us to meet with the bone marrow transplant folks and the oncologist at the same time.
When we got to the appointment Steven's neuro-oncologist told us Steven would be admitted tomorrow to begin the chemo for his bone marrow transplant. Saturday isn't a day they usually admit bone marrow transplant patients, but because Steven has been delayed more than once and because he has had one bone marrow transplant already and they have some sort of idea how he will react this time, they are willing to admit him on Saturday.
He will be admitted tomorrow night around 7:30 or 8:00 pm, and will begin chemo Sunday morning. He will get chemo Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, Wednesday will be a day off, Thursday he will get his stem cells back and we might get to leave the hospital Thursday evening.
So, we enter the fray for the second time, and we're glad to be making one more step forward in eradicating his cancer.
