Steven, The Comets, and Friends of Jaclyn
See if you recognize anyone in this photo Palomar College Men's Basketball team:

So what's up with that short guy in the center wearing street clothes? The one who's not old enough to drive?
It all started with a girl named Jaclyn in New York.
Jaclyn was born in 1994, 22 days after Steven. Jaclyn and Steven have never met, but they share something in common.
Jaclyn was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor just 6 months after Steven's diagnosis. The type of tumor that Jaclyn had is from the same family of tumors as Steven's and she went through almost the identical treatment.
Before the brain tumor, Jaclyn used to play Lacrosse. During her stay at the hospital for cancer treatment, there was a photo of a college women's Lacrosse team hung on the wall. That photo helped inspire Jaclyn through the long days in the hospital when she was feeling her worst.
The video below tells Jaclyn's story and how the organization came to be formed:
A friend of mine who works with Friends of Jaclyn called me when we were in Memphis to tell us about the organization and to see if Steven would be interested in being paired up with a sports team.
He was and so now he's a member of the Palomar College Comets Men's Basketball team.
Steven has been attending the team practices once a week and last Friday they played their first game.
I took Steven out of school early to attend but due to terrible traffic we were a few minutes late.
The Comets were behind when we arrived but shortly after Steven sat with the team, they took the lead and ended up winning the game.
Friday afternoon is their second game and he'll be there to cheer them on.
