Steven is out of surgery
Steven is out of surgery. The surgery went very smoothly and is considered a success. They consider that they removed 100% of the tumor, which is a PNET (primary neuroectodermal tumor). It is considered a malignant tumor. For this type of tumor, cells can break off the main tumor and travel in the cerebrospinal fluid, causing metastases. For this reason, he will require further treatment, probably radiation and chemo, we are still waiting to find out if there were any metastases in the spine.
For now, he is dramatically improved. Even though groggy from the anesthesia, he is far more alert than he was before the surgery.
He will probably remain hospitalized at least through the weekend, but this is a victory.
We are very thankful for the current outcome and the support of our friends.
